Natural Beauty Picks for Dahl House Nutrition

As we transition from Fall into Winter it is time to step up our beauty routine and make sure to give our skin that love it deserves. These months are harsh but thankfully there is an abundance of natural beauty brands to the rescue. Here are a few of my top picks to take you through the season and leave you feeling vibrant even on the coldest days.

Also important to note, what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your body so make sure you are enjoying an abundance of fruits and veggies as well as drinking plenty of water. To help with dryness I also love having 1-2 humidifiers in the house on each side of the bed. I have this one but any kind will do! Continue Reading

How to: DVF Fall 2015 Beauty Look with Natural Products

As soon as I saw the Diane von Furstenberg runway show I knew I would be re-creating the look inspired by the confident woman she expressed through her collection. Since I am focusing on using natural products, I am breaking down how you can achieve this elegant yet effortless look using the best in green beauty.

The hair and makeup was chic but messy and undone, just the way I like it. Perfect to wear for for an event or night out. The extraordinary artist, Pat McGrath worked her magic creating a smokey eye with layered black and brown pencil and cream eyeshadow. The hairstylist, Orlando Pita called the style the “seductress knot”. It was pulled back at the nape of the neck, not too high, not too low in a ponytail and then pinned into an effortless bun with a few strands pulled out.

Years ago, DVF was my first internship and jump-started my career into the fashion world at age 16. She was a huge inspiration to me at the time and still is. I will never forget the energy of the room when she was around and her friendly and warm nature. She introduced me to the idea of what it meant to truly empower and support women. DVF is a force and I feel extremely lucky to have been able to have that experience.

I hope this tutorial shows you that by using natural products you can achieve any look you want, expressing yourself with products that will benefit your skin instead of expose it to chemicals. It is ok to start slow, finding the companies that you love is a journey and there is no rush. Even if you just switch out your shampoo or lipstick, you will be doing your body a favor and I can guarantee you will be amazed at the results.

Beauty Routine

Beauty Routine Makeover

I pride myself on being conscious of what I put in my body. With a myriad of food intolerances and allergies, I work hard to eat things that will make me feel my best and don’t result in a bloated belly and uncomfortable day. I spend extra time preparing meals, budget to buy organic and am picky about the restaurants I eat at. With that being said, I am embarrassed to admit that I do not give the same type of love to my beauty routine. While I have long been aware of the effects that the products I am using have on my skin and body, I haven’t done much about it. Brushing the thoughts to the side, telling myself I will get to it or pretending like what I am using isn’t having an effect on me. I have a feeling I am not alone.

It has gotten to the point where those thoughts can not be squashed and the desire within me to make a change can not be shoved under the rug any longer. So, I’ve decided to do something about it, and share my experiences here.

The truth is that going organic and natural with your beauty routine can be an expensive and time consuming task. I am not looking to do this overnight, nor looking to be perfect. I do live in NYC so avoiding chemicals and pollution completely is not realistic.

I always say that the smallest acts can have the biggest impact and that is my mindset with my beauty routine. I will be experimenting with products as well as DIY and sharing my thoughts. I will be completely honest with you, letting you know what I recommend. Our body absorbs 60% of what we put on it and I want to make sure to show my body the love and respect I want in return.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you and who knows, maybe there will be some products you switch out to make your beauty routine more natural as well.

I couldn’t be more excited and if you have any brands or products to recommend, send them my way!
