Washing my hair, previously an annoying task that “I didn’t have time for” is now scheduled in my calendar and something I look forward to. It has become a sort of at-home spa experience complete with hair masks, leave in conditioners and vanilla-cinnamon candles.
Months ago I noticed my hair was beginning to feel brittle despite ridiculous amounts of leave in conditioner and weekly hair masks. I soon discovered that (like many) I was reaching for the wrong tool to brush my hair, a plastic comb. After researching different types of brushes I decided to switch out my plastic brush for this wooden comb. It was a small act that took virtually no time at all and has left my hair feeling strong and healthy. Using a wooden comb is beneficial because it contains no static. It also helps prevent tangling and there is less breakage and hair loss because your hair is not being pulled. The wooden comb prevents split ends, the fibers in the wood help spread the natural oils in the hair and it is non-toxic.
When life inevitably gets hectic I savor the small moments of calmness that I create for myself. My beauty routine is a huge part of that. I am a strong believer that beauty comes from within but when we do take those moments to pamper ourselves, we ignite our inner light and come forward as our most confident self. These small moments will add up. Whether it is dry brushing before you shower, applying a bold lip for a day of running errands or putting on a face mask, take these moments. You deserve it.
