How to: DVF Fall 2015 Beauty Look with Natural Products

As soon as I saw the Diane von Furstenberg runway show I knew I would be re-creating the look inspired by the confident woman she expressed through her collection. Since I am focusing on using natural products, I am breaking down how you can achieve this elegant yet effortless look using the best in green beauty.

The hair and makeup was chic but messy and undone, just the way I like it. Perfect to wear for for an event or night out. The extraordinary artist, Pat McGrath worked her magic creating a smokey eye with layered black and brown pencil and cream eyeshadow. The hairstylist, Orlando Pita called the style the “seductress knot”. It was pulled back at the nape of the neck, not too high, not too low in a ponytail and then pinned into an effortless bun with a few strands pulled out.

Years ago, DVF was my first internship and jump-started my career into the fashion world at age 16. She was a huge inspiration to me at the time and still is. I will never forget the energy of the room when she was around and her friendly and warm nature. She introduced me to the idea of what it meant to truly empower and support women. DVF is a force and I feel extremely lucky to have been able to have that experience.

I hope this tutorial shows you that by using natural products you can achieve any look you want, expressing yourself with products that will benefit your skin instead of expose it to chemicals. It is ok to start slow, finding the companies that you love is a journey and there is no rush. Even if you just switch out your shampoo or lipstick, you will be doing your body a favor and I can guarantee you will be amazed at the results.

5. Use a wide tooth comb to brush back without a part and secure a ponytail with an elastic tie.
6. Twist ponytail and pin loosely into a knot, letting a few strands come out for a sexy effect.

Striped Shirt

The Striped Shirt

This week’s style post is focusing on an item almost everyone has in their closet, the striped shirt. A blank canvas, this shirt seamlessly transitions between seasons and is the epitome of a classic. If you don’t own one already, this one from Petit Bateau would be a wonderful addition to any closet.

Personally, I always find that when I am in a rush it is the first item I grab. I know I will look put together with minimal effort. As seen above, I quickly put this on as I was rushing out the door. I kept it casual with minimal jewelry and my favorite Karen Walker shades during the day.

Today, I am breaking down how to wear it to fit seven different style personalities.

Sexy: Show off some leg with short shorts + a simple strappy heel & a playful hat.

Classic: Accomplish this unfussy look with a tucked in striped shirt + high heel pumps + little to no jewelry & sunglasses that compliment your face shape.

Casual: Get ready to run errands in a loose fitting striped shirt + straight skirt + boots & a large tan tote bag.

Artsy: Mix in an unexpected fabric like this glitzy skirt + top it off with a fedora & a simple sandal.

Boho: Add in a patterned clutch + choose a casual sandal in a bright color & wear your stripes in red.

Relaxed: Black skinnies + a camel coat & slip on sandals create the perfect balance of relaxed and chic.

Feminine: Pile a statement necklace on + a navy skirt + heels & a stylish coat create this ultra girly + sophisticated look.
